Early Morning Raids Result In Many Arrests
May 4th, 2010 7:52amTORONTO – Police forces from all over Ontario joined forces this morning in a series of raids all over the city. Project Corral, as it was named by police, resulted in 71 arrests.
Warrants were executed all over the GTA and even in Ottawa.
Along with Toronto Police Divisional units were officers from Ontario Provincial Police, Drug Squad, Guns and Gangs Unit, and even Canadian Border Services.
One source said police were targeting the street gangs 5 Point Generalz and the Falstaff Crips and one other.
Many of the addresses targeted were in the Weston Rd. area from Jane St. to Lawrence Ave. W.
OPP task force units executed at least one warrant on Parkway Forest Dr. in the Don Mills Rd. and Sheppard Ave. E. area.
Officials say that more than 1,000 officers executed approximately 100 warrants at around 5am today.
Chief Blair is expected to address the media this afternoon with further details.
