ETOBICOKE – One man is dead and one is fighting for his life in hospital after an early morning fire in Etobicoke.

Toronto Fire Services and EMS responded to reports of a fire at around 5:00am this morning to find three residents trapped inside at home on 22nd St. between Lakeshore Blvd. and Birmingham St. They were all rushed to hospital, one of them reportedly with no vital signs at the time. That person, believed to be a man in his 60′s, is still in critical condition. The other two suffered non-life threatening injuries and are expected to recover.

A fourth man in his 40′s was found after the blaze was knocked down and pronounced dead at the scene.

The fire is believed to have started on the first floor, bu quickly spread through the structure- a rooming house which is home to about 15 people.

The Ontario Fire Marshall has been called in to investigate.
