EAST YORK – A woman is dead in yet another deadly fire in the city. Toronto Fire Services crews found the woman in a home on fire on Thyra Ave., in the Victoria Park Ave. and Danforth Rd. area.

The blaze broke out just after 9:00pm. Thick black smoke was pouring from inside the house.

The victim, a 61-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.

This is the second fatal fire in Toronto within 24 hours. A man died earlier today at a fire in Etobicoke.

Another tragic fire kept TFS crews busy in the afternoon on Southport St. in the South Kingsway and the Queensway area. A 71-year-old man was found in his apartment and was transported to hospital in critical condition where he remains on life-support.

The Ontario Fire Marshal is investigating all three fires.
