Two Girls Rescued During HikeApril 10th, 2009 10:01pm
DON MILLS – Two 11-year-old girls are lucky to have escaped with nothing more than muddy clothes after a ‘usual’ hike took a turn for the worse.
It happened this afternoon in the Eglinton Ave. E. and DVP area when the girls were out hiking through a ravine. They came across a patch of watery mud and that’s when they became trapped.
Firefighters and ambulance crews were able to get the girls out of the ravine without any incidents. The two youngsters were quite embarrassed about the ordeal and kept apologizing to the rescuers for causing all this trouble, said Chris Tessaro of the Toronto Fire Services.
Officials caution the public to be on the lookout for patches such as these, as we have had a lot of rain recently and that’s on top of a water-saturated ground due to the snow melting.
